The meeting was called to order by President Megan Kelly. Opening prayers were said.
Installation of Officers: None.
Initiation of New Members: None.
Approval of the minutes
Motion (Mary H/Janelle B) to suspend with reading of minutes was PASSED and minutes were approved with corrections.
Presentation of bills:
Megan Kelly submitted expenses of $46.99 ($10.00 cards/$36.99 for food for Leddy funeral). Motion (Mary D/Teresa H) to pay Megan was PASSED.
Discussions to advise where funds were sent for the different donations (i.e. Catholic Action, Columban Fathers/Sisters, etc.). Megan advised Julie M. to keep a copy of her reports for submission.
Megan requested a replacement check to Judy for the 35th anniversary expenses.
Officers’ Reports
Recording Secretary: Correspondence was read.
Chaplain: Deacon Chris Campbell was excused.
President: Megan thanked the Teresa for the snacks. Megan thanked the members for the contribution for to assist with convention expenses. She will present the detailed expenses at the next meeting. She felt the convention experience was worthwhile and was impressed with the number of ladies participating. Megan received an email that included letters from all the new National letters and brought them to the meeting to share. The next State Board meeting is November 12 at Tara Hall. The ladies will be providing lunch and Megan is asking for help. The Cuyahoga Division is celebrating “Our Lady of Knock” August 21st if anyone is interested. Medina Division is having a Corporate Communion celebrating Mother Theresa in September. The Men’s AOH is sponsoring “The Water is Life” event August 20.
Vice President: No Report.
Financial Secretary: There are 32 paid members, 20 members in attendance, 7 seniors, 3 national life, and 53 total members.
Treasurer: June - Total Receipts were $161.00 and expenses were $339.81. Account balances are: MIN - $1,160.06, Celtic - $932.69, Checking balance - $10,120.67 and $5,222.21 after Cottage Fund of $3,235.15. July - expenses were $500.00. Checking balance was $7,957.36 and $4,722.21 after Cottage Fund of $3,235.15. MIN - $1,160.07, Celtic - $932.70.
Historian: Mary shared the weather in Ireland. January 37, June 63, August 54/66, October 46/55, etc. The Euro is down to $1.09, the cheapest it’s been in years and airfares are down as well. In 1922, Arthur Griffin and Michael Collins died. Teresa shared that the writing contest were determined to be too rigid and they are being re-done and more user-friendly. There is now a Facebook page for LAOH Historians. 2016-17 Role of Irish in WWI, 2017-18, Expressing Irish History in Music, 2018-19, Heroes and Heroines in Celtic Mythology and Art and, 2019 will be the 125th Anniversary for LAOH . The year-end reports will be converted to a narrative report. Historians were advised to type their reports to share in notebooks for reference.
Missions & Charities: Judy shared about the relationships between LAOH and Catholic Institutions. LAOH has donated more than $1 million dollars to the Columban Fathers and their work. Columban Sisters and Appeal for Aid also benefit greatly. Megan brought to the division’s attention the challenge to raise an additional $200 over the next two years.
Catholic Action: Kristin passed around the form. Megan advised the trip to the cemetery has been postponed until further notice. She will look into another event.
Sentinel: Janelle thanked Toni for the DIF and the smooth set-up. She reported the Shamrock Club event was not as smooth.
Mistress at Arms: No Report.
Committee reports:
Freedom For All Ireland-Heather O’Leary Ziccardi/Elaine Browning: No Report.
Hospitality-Teresa Harris: Thanks to Teresa for snacks. September is Pat #1 and Sue O’Connor.
Newsletter-Mary Higgins: No Report. Mary asked if the newsletter could be disbanded as the Facebook and website pages are active. Megan suggested that Publicity and Newsletter be combined.
Membership-Rory Clark: No Report.
Publicity-Leah Demko: Leah will post things requested. Leah said the men will be doing a winter clothing drive in Tara Hall the next two months. It will go to the Bishop Griffin Center in October. Mary H. also advised she can take donated clothing to J.O.I.N.
Sunshine-Julie McGhee: Julie sent cards to Tony Ziccardi, the Leddys and the Verbance family. She also has sent personal notes to Karen and Mo.
Cottage-Maureen Lovell: Megan reports renovations are continuing.
Bereavement-Maureen Lovell: No Report.
Activities-Rory Clark, Erin Reidy, Leah Demko: There will be a Mass at St. Llad’s August 20 and then dinner to follow. Contact Rory by August 15. Leah reports the paint night was a success.
Website-Maureen Clark, Toni Dodge, Lisa O-P: No Report.
Unfinished Business
Megan still has 1 Lilly pin.
No update on the Time Capsule.
Megan advised the Division made $256 at the Shamrock Club Music Festival.
Megan has 1 more 1916 card available.
Maureen Clark will pick up the painting to re-touch and prepare for mounting.
Megan talked to the person who will be making the baldrics, to get pricing.
Remember to bring school supplies to the September meeting.
Megan is trying to reach Limited Brands for a fundraiser.
February 18, 2017 is the next Clann na nGael dinner. It will again be held at the
DIF – Motion (Mary H/Judy L) to purchase a banner and business cards for display was PASSED. Megan will research our options.
New business:
Megan made a motion, Rory seconded, to reinstate the August meeting was PASSED.
Charity for August – Janelle suggested we do school supplies for St. Mary’s school in German Village. Mary Driscoll reminded everyone to watch for the school supply sales that will be going in this summer. Suggestion was accepted by the division.

August 21 – Feast of Our Lady of Knock. Rory will coordinate mass and then Shamrock Club corn roast. Lisa scheduled St. Ladislas on behalf of our division for this date.

50/50 Raffle: Total collected was $24.00 and Janelle got $12.00.
