The meeting was called to order by Vice-President Megan Kelly. Opening prayers were said.

Installation of Officers: None.

Initiation of New Members: Beth Motika was initiated.

Approval of the minutes

  1. Motion (Janelle/Karen) to suspend with reading of minutes was PASSED and minutes were approved.

Presentation of bills:

  1. Kristin presented a bill for Megan for $100.60 for expenses from the State Board meeting. This expense was pre-approved.

  2. Kristin presented pre-approved expense for Corpus Christi for ½ of $275 (men pay other half).

  3. Teresa presented a bill for $48.30 for National Life sash; motion (Rosemark/Leah) was PASSED.

Reading of Correspondence:

  1. Toni read all the correspondence.

  2. Motion (Maureen/Karen) to provide $50 donation to Corpus Christi/St. Llads Kristin presented a bill for Megan for $100.60 for expenses from the State Board meeting. This expense was pre-approved.

Officers’ Reports

  1. Recording Secretary: Correspondence was read. Motion (Maureen/Karen) to provide $50 donation to Corpus Christi/St. Llads to assist with expenses related to a May 8 First Holy Communion event was PASSED.

  2. Chaplain: A new Chaplain is needed.

  3. President: Kristin thanked the Clarks for the snacks.

  4. Vice President: No report.

  5. Financial Secretary: There are 24 paid members, 22 members in attendance (23 after induction of new member), 7 seniors, 3 national life, and 52 total members.

  6. Treasurer: Total Receipts were $536.50 and expenses were $1,415.98. Account balances are: MIN - $1,360.01, Celtic - $932.66, Checking balance - $6,891.46 after Cottage Fund of $2,908.15.

  7. Historian: No Report.

  8. Missions & Charities: Judy shared information about women collaboration of missions in China and about Francis, later known as Sister Mary Patrick and Sisters of Columban. www.columbansisters.org. Judy reminded all the 50/50 goes to this charity.

  9. Catholic Action: Karen passed around the monthly activities sheets. Mary Higgins reported on Karen’s behalf about Project St. Patrick, which is completely run by the Hibernians. It gives grants to anyone who wishes to further their studies. Mary brought some cards in for the membership to share. The State Catholic Chair is able to track how much each division sends with their card.

  10. Sentinel: Janelle shared about new on trafficking and a retailer that was unknowingly selling a marked toy that identifies children for sale. She encouraged all to be aware of this sign and contact the police if seen.

  11. Mistress at Arms: No Report.

Committee reports:

  1. Freedom For All Ireland-Heather O’Leary Ziccardi/Elaine Browning: Elaine reported about 1972 Daniel Haggarty who was killed by British soldiers and the government is refusing to try the people responsible.

  2. Hospitality-Teresa Harris: Thanks to the Clarks for snacks. Toni Dodge and Pat O’Connor will bring snacks in April.

  3. Newsletter-Mary Higgins: Mary sent the letter this month.

  4. Membership-Rory Clark: No Report.

  5. Publicity-Leah Demko: Leah started a FaceBook account and a Twitter account, both which she hopes are utilized during green season.

  6. Sunshine-Julie McGhee: No Report. A sympathy card was sent in January

  7. Cottage-Maureen Lovell: Maureen advised the refrigerator has been moved. More will follow after March. She thanks all who had donations for the cottage and advises all no need to bring plates or napkins for snacks. Next meeting is March 22 at the cottage. Karen Finn donated a set of knives for the cottage. Lisa/Megan also wanted to acknowledge Gretchen’s contributions to the Cottage Fund. Lisa presented Gretchen with a certificate of appreciation and a pin as thanks. Gretchen thanked her committee and the division for their contributions.

  8. Bereavement-Maureen Lovell: No Report.

  9. Activities-Rory Clark: No Report.

  10. Website-Maureen Clark, Toni Dodge, Lisa O-P: Maureen has drafted a new website for the group. Toni, Lisa, and Maureen will discuss more at a later date.

Unfinished Business

  1. Megan spoke to Deacon Campbell and he has agreed to be our Chaplain.

  2. Megan is still selling Lilly pins. Only 14 pins are left.

  3. Kristin is going to make a new decorated charity jar.

  4. Judy’s sash for National Life was presented by Kristin.

  5. March collection was for the Cottage and toiletries were also collected for this month.

  6. Judy talked about the 35th Anniversary. The date will be April 30, with a cost of $35 per person, cash bar, and will be held at Mozart’s on North High Street for our celebration. Our anniversary is April 26. Mass will be at Our Lady of Peace (4:00pm). Judy needs RSVPs by April 23. Invitations will be sent out. Guests are welcome.

  7. Kristin announced the Shamrock Club board passed our dart league for the 3rd Thursday of the month and will start in April. Non-Hibernians/non-Shamrock Club members can purchase a pub membership.

  8. Julie McGhee announced her Proclamation Day $500 donation will go to the Senior Companion program, run through Catholic Social Services. Rachel Lustig, President/CEO will accept check.

  9. Proclamation Day bus will leave the club at 7:45 a.m. There is a waiting list. Mass is at St. Christopher’s at 8:30a, Byrnes Pub breakfast, and then City Hall. Tara Hall doors open at 1:00pm. Sub service starts at 2:00 pm, with subs selling for $6.00. Motion (Maureen/Janelle) to have Toni get $100.00 in change for the sub sales was PASSED.

  10. Lisa reported on the Easter Rising Committee. Julie, Megan, Lisa, and Mary D. attended last week’s meeting. They anticipate 200 people in attendance. The menu will be cheese, crackers, fruit, and mini-sandwiches. Chris Connick is selling the ads and anticipating the sales to be up to the $1,500 to cover the food. Motion (Judy/Elaine) to give $100 for an ad was PASSED. Ushers are needed for the mass (Kristin, Lisa, Karen, Julie, Toni). On our 35th anniversary, we are honoring the 1916 East Rising 100th anniversary. Toni will develop the ad. Judy passed around a sign-in sheet to list everyone for $10 for patron ads. Checks would go to AOH Patrick Pearce Division. Mass will be at St. Patrick’s at 12:30pm.

New business:

  1. Clann na nGael will be marching in the Dublin parade on March 12.

  2. Clann na nGael t-shirts are being sold by the Shamrock Club.

  3. Next year, February 18, 2017 has been reserved the Holiday Inn Worthington for Clann na nGael.

  4. Donations for April are the Cottage shower.

  5. National Convention is in Atlantic City this year. Mary advised us that there are 2 Ohioans running for National Office. Mary also suggested reservations be made now and to let Megan know if you are going.

  6. The Peace tree will be at Franklin Park in either April or May.

  7. Next State Board Meeting will be June 4 here at Tara Hall.

  8. Boathouse gift cards – there was a donation of 3 $50 gift cards. Motion (Judy/Janelle) to use the cards individually in gift baskets or other upcoming requested donations was PASSED.

  9. Daughters of Erin is requesting for sponsorships for the May 1 golf outing. Teresa asked we table this until the April meeting.

  10. Sisters of the Golden Rule Queen of Ireland was selling raffle tickets, which will be held on St. Patrick’s Day. The tickets are $10.00 each. Motion (Mary/Elaine) to purchase a $10 ticket on behalf of the division was PASSED.

  11. Pat O’Connor #1 brought in a request for donation for the Buckeye Feis, supporting Millennium Academy. In June 2015 there was a pre-approved vote for the Feis to receive $50 if they asked.

  12. Maureen Clark announced she got the mural approved through Tara Hall.

  13. March 24 – Columbus Landmarks Foundation is coming to Tara Hall

Proposals for new members: Colleen Campbell, member of Immaculate Conception, sponsored by Leah Demko, and Jo Ann Cormack, a member of Holy Family, sponsored by Elaine Browning. Voting for both was PASSED.

50/50 Raffle: Total collected was $34.00 and Karen Finn got $17.00. Karen donated the funds back to the Division.

Good and Welfare:

  1. Elaine – keep upcoming new member Louise in our prayers, for the 4 sisters martyred last week.

  2. Cathy – Mary Modic

  3. Janelle – for the McGrath death

  4. Mary H – special intention, and she has a new great niece

  5. Maureen C – student’s mother passed away and the girl is going to have surgery related to lesions on brain

  6. Maureen L – for Beth M’s aunt

  7. Lisa – all those persecuted

  8. Kristin – for Mary and Megan and their safe travels

  9. Heidi – godfather having back surgery and then another surgery next week
